About this Word Unscrambler

Our word unscrambler instantly finds all valid English words that can be made from your letters — whether you're stuck on a word game, solving a crossword, or just exploring anagrams. Simply enter your letters and click Unscramble. The wildcard feature (use ? for any letter) is particularly useful in Scrabble and Words With Friends when you have blank tiles. One ? wildcard can dramatically expand the number of valid words available to you. Each result includes a Scrabble point value calculated using standard tile scores: Q and Z are worth 10 points, J and X worth 8, K worth 5, and common letters like A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T, and R worth just 1 point. Results are grouped by word length so you can quickly browse 7-letter and 8-letter words (which score bonus points for using all your tiles in Scrabble).

Frequently Asked Questions

A word unscrambler takes a set of letters and finds all valid dictionary words that can be formed using some or all of those letters. It's useful for word games like Scrabble, Wordle, and anagram puzzles.

A scrambled word uses exactly the same letters as the original word rearranged (e.g., 'listen' and 'silent'). An anagram is a more specific type of scramble where the rearrangement itself forms a meaningful word or phrase.

Yes. If you have several candidate letters and want to know which valid words they can form, a word unscrambler can help narrow down your guesses, particularly when you have confirmed letters but aren't sure of the arrangement.

Enter a ? in place of any letter you don't know or for a blank Scrabble tile. The unscrambler will try every letter of the alphabet in that position. For example, entering 'st??e' finds words like 'stare', 'stone', 'store', 'stove', and 'stale'.

Each letter has a point value based on how rare it is. Common letters (A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T, R) are worth 1 point. Q and Z are worth 10 points, J and X are worth 8, K is 5, and so on. Scrabble bonus squares (double/triple letter and word scores) are not included as they depend on board position.
