Rhyme Finder

Enter any word and get a list of perfect rhymes, near rhymes, and rhyming phrases. Ideal for writing lyrics, poetry, and spoken word.

How to use the Rhyme Finder

  1. Type a word and search

Enter any English word in the search box and click 'Find rhymes' (or press Enter). Results appear in three sections: perfect rhymes, near rhymes, and same-ending words.

  2. Browse perfect rhymes first

Perfect rhymes share exactly the same vowel and consonant sounds from the last stressed syllable onwards. These are your strongest rhyming options for poetry, lyrics, and formal verse.

  3. Explore near rhymes for variety

Near rhymes (slant rhymes) sound similar but aren't exact. They're widely used in modern poetry, rap, and songwriting for a subtler effect that avoids the sing-song quality of forced perfect rhymes.

  4. Click any word to find its rhymes

Click any word in the results to immediately search for rhymes of that word. Your search history (last 5 searches) appears below the input so you can quickly jump back to previous results.

About this Rhyme Finder

Finding the right rhyme is one of the most satisfying parts of writing lyrics or poetry — and one of the most frustrating when you're stuck. Our rhyme finder searches thousands of common English words to surface perfect rhymes, near rhymes, and same-ending words instantly. Perfect rhymes share the same ending sound from the last stressed vowel onwards. For example, "night" perfectly rhymes with "light", "right", and "bright" — they all end with the "-ight" sound. Near rhymes (also called slant rhymes or half rhymes) sound similar but aren't identical. Words like "worm" and "form" are near rhymes. Many of the greatest poets — Emily Dickinson, Wilfred Owen, Seamus Heaney — favoured slant rhymes for their natural, unforced quality. The clickable word results let you chain searches together: click a rhyme to find what rhymes with that word, building a network of sound associations that can unlock unexpected lyrical possibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

A perfect rhyme (also called a true rhyme) is when two words share the exact same vowel and ending sounds. For example, 'cat' and 'hat', or 'moon' and 'spoon'. Our rhyme finder shows perfect rhymes as the top results.

A near rhyme (slant rhyme or half rhyme) is when words have similar but not identical sounds, like 'worm' and 'form' or 'breath' and 'death'. Many poets and songwriters prefer the subtle effect of near rhymes.

Many professional lyricists use rhyming dictionaries and tools to explore multi-syllable rhymes, internal rhymes, and near rhymes. Our rhyme finder helps you quickly explore options when you're stuck on a line.

A rhyme is a matching sound at the end of words (moon/spoon). Alliteration is a matching sound at the start of consecutive words (Peter Piper picked). They are different literary devices, though both are used in poetry and song to create rhythm and musicality.
