About this Date Calculator

Date calculations come up constantly in everyday life: project deadlines, contract periods, lease terms, visa expiry dates, and age milestones. Our date calculator handles the two most common tasks — finding the difference between two dates, and adding or subtracting a number of days from a date.

Working days (business days) are calculated by counting only Monday through Friday, excluding weekends. The result gives you the number of days on which work would typically take place, which is more useful than raw calendar days for scheduling and project management purposes.

When calculating date differences, the result is always the absolute number of days — the calculator shows a note if the end date is before the start date. This means you can enter dates in any order without worrying about the direction.

For months and years, our calculator uses approximate conversions (1 month ≈ 30.44 days, 1 year = 365 days). These are displayed as approximations because calendar months have different lengths. For exact month-to-month differences, use the 'days between dates' result as the authoritative figure.

The add/subtract mode is useful for calculating deadlines. For example: if a 90-day payment term starts today, what is the exact due date? Or: a 6-month contract runs from a specific start date — when does it end? Enter your start date, add the number of days, and the calculator returns the exact result date with the day of the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Enter both dates using the 'Days between dates' mode. The calculator shows the exact number of calendar days between them, as well as the working days (Monday–Friday only), weeks, approximate months, and approximate years.

Working days (also called business days) are Monday through Friday. Our calculator counts all weekdays in the date range, excluding Saturdays and Sundays. Public holidays are not currently excluded as these vary by country and region.

Switch to 'Add / subtract days' mode. Enter today's date as the starting date, select 'Add', and enter 90 in the days field. The calculator instantly shows the date that falls exactly 90 calendar days from your starting date, including the day of the week.

The calculator shows the absolute difference between the two dates regardless of order. A note will appear indicating that the end date is before the start date, but the number of days shown is still accurate.

Calendar months have different lengths (28–31 days), so converting days to months isn't exact. Our calculator uses 30.44 days per month (the average over 4 years) and 365 days per year as approximations. For precision, always use the total days figure.
