DefinitionFree fall Definition: The fall of an object without it being subject to any forces but gravity Objects in free fall have a constant acceleration towards the Earth, this is due to the gravitational force. Objects fall due to gravity with an acceleration of ~9.8m/s2 near the surface of the Earth accelerating them with increasing speed over time. Free fall is a reference frame to the laws of motion and the concept is used largely in the field of physics and engineering to analyse the trajectory of projectiles, orbits of celestial bodies and dynamics of falling objects. For example, if we simply let it go, when a ball is dropped from a height, it drops in free fall acceleration, accelerates under suspected gravity equal until it reaches the ground.
